Baskin Robbins Birthday

Thirty-one. Thirty and one. 31.

It’s weird to think that I am definitely a part of this age group, yet it’s quite comfortable. Do I miss my twenties? Of course, I do. I miss the absence of body aches, the abundance of energy, and some of the freedoms that come with being young, but that’s about it. A year ago, I bid farewell to my twenties and welcomed my thirties; I wrote a post about it in a different space. I took the time to reflect back on my youth, what this new chapter meant/means to me, and some personal goals I hope(d) this decade would/will bring. Re-reading it over a few times while writing this post, I feel relieved and proud of what freshly thirty-year-old me had going on in her mind. I have included screenshots of the post at the bottom of this one.

This past year I welcomed and got to know a new version of me. I am still getting to know this person, but it feels so good. I have gotten back into reading, learning, and unapologetically cooking without heavily relying on recipes. I have been working on just following what nurtures and helps me on social media, and realizing that the future really does hold endless possibilities.

It’s my Baskin Robbins birthday. Why Baskin Robbins? Baskin Robbins has a “31 flavors” slogan, and their logo has “31” in pink, and today I am 31. I am choosing to think of this age and year as having “31” years of stories, “31” different sides of me, “31” colors, and “31” reasons to celebrate myself; I, too, have “31 flavors” and I am going to enjoy them this thirty-first year.

My birthday today was and is fantastic. Nachos and quesadilla for breakfast, Baskin Robbins ice cream, and a cake were today’s menu. I had a simple birthday and it was perfect.

Today (and at the minute this is posted) I have officially been alive for thirty-one years, and I’m so glad I’m no longer focused on just trying to survive, to live. I am finally beginning to thrive.
